BC Centre for Disease Control

BACKGROUND: The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is the provincial body dedicated to improving public health. The BCCDC monitors the health of the population, designs and supports public health programs to prevent illness, protects against health risks, and promotes the well-being of people living in B.C.

OUR WORK: Our multicultural outreach team has assisted the BCCDC engage with diverse households on messages ranging from antibiotic use to medication management. In addition to digital media planning, and execution, our team provided ad-ops services of copywriting, translation, graphic design, and reporting.

BC Cancer Agency

BACKGROUND: BC Cancer Agency provides a comprehensive cancer control program for residents of BC. The organisation’s mandate includes the full spectrum of cancer care, ranging from prevention to screening and diagnosis to treatment, and research. Each of BC Cancer’s centres delivers cancer treatment based on provincial standards and guidelines established by BC Cancer.

OUR WORK: Sunflower Media’s multicultural marketing team worked with BCCA on a province-wide alcohol moderation campaign. The campaign targeted a broad population of those who consumed alcohol on a weekly basis in order to advance a message of the importance of moderation. Our digital planning team used geofencing and location targeting to build custom audiences for this campaign and our work included ad-ops services and reporting.

Real Canadian Superstore

BACKGROUND: Owned by Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore is one the largest grocery, and housewares retail chains in Canada. Outlets feature in-house brands such as President’s Choice, No Name and Joe Fresh and sell a wide range of merchandise ranging from electronics to clothing. Real Canadian Superstore, with dozens of locations across the country, is as iconic a Canadian brand as Costco or Walmart are to the United States.

OUR WORK: Our multicultural sponsored content team assisted Real Canadian Superstore promote its locations as one-stop shopping destinations for all things from Back To School to Christmas. For these campaigns, our ethnic marketing agency drafted story copy in English but also additional languages such as Punjabi, and Hindi. We also created in-language creative and executed multicultural digital campaigns.

Sunlight

BACKGROUND: One of the world’s most recognizable brand names for the past century, Sunlight detergent was the world’s first packaged, branded laundry soap. Launched by Unilever in 1884, the brand today is running as strong as ever. Sunlight is still the quintessential CPG (Consumer Products & Goods) brand with distribution worldwide, including in Canada where it is today manufactured by Henkel.

OUR WORK: Our multicultural sponsored content team assisted the brand reach and engage with diverse Canadian households for its “Helping Canadians Shine” campaign that Sunlight was sponsoring. Our team provided a number of sponsored content services, ranging from multi-language story composition (English, Punjabi, and Hindi), as well as creating digital creative, media execution, conversion tracking, GA4 metrics and analysis, and final reporting.

CashMoney (CURO)

BACKGROUND: Specialising in services like payday loans, auto loans, cash advances, Western Union transfers, LOC’s, and other financial services, CashMoney is a widely recognised name in Canada’s finance sector. The brand has dozens of locations across the country and a presence in all major urban centres.

OUR WORK: Our multicultural marketing assisted this client with campaigns targeting South Asian audience(s) in Ontario. Our work included media planning, buying, execution, and reporting, as well as consulting on strategy.

Gulf & Fraser Credit Union (G&F)

BACKGROUND: Operating as Gulf & Fraser or G&F, Gulf and Fraser Fishermen’s Credit Union is a member-owned financial institution in Canada.  The history of G&F goes back to 1940 and the credit union’s servi ces include borrowing, investments and financial planning.

OUR WORK: Our multicultural marketing team has worked with this brand to assist its efforts in engaging with New Canadians and immigrant households, particularly in areas serviced by its brick-and-mortar locations. For these campaigns we have employed both traditional and digital media, including executing campaigns on Chinese platforms such as WeChat.

Thompson Rivers University

Background: Founded over fifty years ago, TRU, as it is commonly called, is one of British Columbia’s major universities. It is based in the interior city of Kamloops and has grown to a base of over 10,000 students. Aside from offering undergraduate, graduate, and vocational degrees, TRU also offers law and nursing degrees.

The Work: Our South Asian, Chinese, and multicultural marketing teams have worked with this client to attract students from the domestic Canadian market. Our services have included managed digital programmatic campaigns, media planning and media buying, campaign optimisation, graphics, metrics & reporting.

City of Edmonton

Background: Edmonton is North America’s northernmost city with a population greater than one million people. The city, also known as Canada’s Festival City, is the centre for Alberta’s government and a key commercial hub for the province’s energy sector. Over the past three decades Edmonton’s demographic composition has rapidly evolved as the city has attracted immigrant families from around the globe.

The Work: As the city’s population base has diversified so has the need for the city to communicate with all of its diverse communities. Our multicultural marketing team has assisted this client for in-language campaigns. We have worked via digital and print mediums to inform Edmonton’s residents about issues critical to their livelihood. Execution has included services such as media planning, copy writing/ translation, audience building, reporting, and more.

Background: Since emerging as a new service in the early 2010’s, meal kit delivery sales have continued to grow year on year, even during the Covid19 pandemic. Hello Fresh is the largest provider in this space, delivering kits across the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Europe.

The Work: Our South Asian marketing team worked with Hello Fresh to introduce its service to a new demographic of young urban  professionals from immigrant and 2nd generation communities in Canada. We worked via programmatic, e-newsletter, and PMP deals. Execution included media recommendations, ad copy writing, native advertising copy writing, audience building, demographic & geo targeting, conversion tracking/ remarketing, and reporting.

University of Victoria

BACKGROUND: The University of Victoria is one of Western Canada’s largest post-secondary institutions. It is consistently ranked in the top three in the country in the category of comprehensive universities (institutions in this category have a significant amount of research activity and a wide range of programs at the undergraduate and graduate level, including professional degrees). The University of Victoria is renowned for its research into climate and ocean science.

OUR WORK: Our team worked closely with staff from the university’s School of Public Health and Social Policy in the beta launch and testing of a new diabetes app that targeted BC’s South Asian population. Our multicultural marketing team collaborated on storyboards for a TV commercial that would engage the target audience (South Asian seniors) to download the app to their smartphones and integrate it into their daily health and diabetes management.
